How to Choose a Pregnancy Support Belt Size (and Wear It Right)

The most common mistake with a pregnancy support belt is ordering by clothing size. Belts are sized by the measurement around your lower abdomen, and each size covers a wide range because the closures adjust.

Measure first, then pick

Wrap a soft tape around your lower abdomen, just under the bump, and note the number. Then match it to the chart:

Size Under the bump (cm) Under the bump (in)
S 70-95 27.5-37.5
M 80-110 31.5-43.5
L 90-120 35.5-47
XL 110-130 43.5-51
2XL 110-140 43.5-55

If you are between two sizes

The ranges overlap on purpose. Think about how many weeks you have left: earlier in pregnancy, the larger size leaves more room to grow. Later on, the smaller one usually gives a closer fit.

How to put it on

  1. Place the wide panel across your lower back.
  2. Bring the band under your bump and fasten it so it lifts without squeezing.
  3. Lay the upper strap over the top of the bump and adjust the side tabs until it feels supportive, not tight.

Signs the fit is right

  • You can breathe and sit down comfortably.
  • The band sits under the bump, not across it.
  • It leaves no deep marks when you take it off.

How long to wear it

Wear the belt for two to three hours at a time, for the active part of your day, then take a break. Wear it over a thin layer of clothing rather than on bare skin.
